Glossary Automated Manifest System (AMS)

Automated Manifest System(AMS) refers to the electronic declaration of cargo to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol in advance for the cargo entering the US. This system started off to assist speedy customs clearance, but recently, the function of cargo inspection beforehand has been strengthened to prevent terrorism. ※ CBP (Customs and Border Protection): the new name for US Customs Service. It is an organization under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
