Glossary Freight

Freight is the amount of currency paid to the shipowner or carrier as a consideration for the transportation of cargo. In some cases, the cost of loading or unloading the cargo may be included in the freight, depending on the type of contract, specific conditions, and the practice of the relevant port, and also covers maritime transport. In the United States, freight is also used to refer to land transportation or land freight, while in the United Kingdom, it is generally used to refer to maritime cargo or freight. There are two types of freight: prepaid freight and collect freight.
