Glossary Container Ship

A Container Ship is a vessel designed to carry containers, which are categorized as semi-container ships and full container ships according to the loading structure or the number of containers they can carry. They are also classified as Lift On/Lift Off (Lo-Lo) ships or Roll On/Roll Off (Ro-Ro) ships based on their loading and unloading methods. Lo-Lo ships use gantry cranes on board or on land to vertically load containers from the vessel, while Ro-Ro ships are dry vessels designed for horizontal loading of containers via the ship's bow or stern using tractors or forklifts.
