Glossary Express Bill of Lading

An Express Bill of Lading is a document used in logistics to acknowledge the receipt of goods and serves as a contract of carriage between a shipper and a carrier. It contains information about the consignor, consignee, and the details of the shipment, such as the quantity and type of goods, the weight and volume, and the mode of transport. Unlike a standard bill of lading, an express bill of lading is often issued and transmitted electronically to expedite the shipment and delivery process. It is commonly used in time-sensitive shipments, such as air cargo and express courier services. An express bill of lading is not documentary evidence unlike the original bill of lading, but it can be used in place of the original document.
