[US]OCT 29 Auto workers to end strike as UAW reaches agreement with management
The six week old UAW strike by the United Auto Workers UAW union is to end shortly with a tentative deal reached between the management of Stellantis, Ford and the labour that grants 25 per cent increase in wages over their four year contract into 2028. UAW leaders called on thousands of strikers at Stellants and Ford to withdraw from picket lines and return to work at assembly plants in Michigan and Ohio, and at vehicle parts warehouses across the nation.

Hundreds of people stormed the building and the landing field as a flight from Tel Aviv, Israel was due to land. There were no immediate reports of injuries or arrests. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said Israel expects Russian law enforcement authorities to protect the safety of all Israeli citizens and Jews wherever they may be. Russia's civilian aviation agency, Rosaviatsia, later reported that the airfield had been cleared, but that the airport would remain closed.

Emergency services called to the A38 near Bristol Airport following crash. Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Departures from the airport had been suspended until 8am as a result of the accident. There will be delays throughout the rest of the day to arrivals and departures. Avon and Somerset Police said one person had sustained potentially life threatening injuries.

[UK]OCT 28 Heavy rain causes flooding in south east
East Sussex Fire Rescue issued the advice after a deluge of rain overnight flooded streets in the coastal town. The Environment Agency said flooding was also expected in Seaford seafront and town centre. Heavy thundery showers are expected between early on Saturday and Sunday morning with people being warned of a chance homes and businesses could be flooded. Met Office issues weekend yellow weather warning with heavy showers expected across south east.

[Pakistan]OCT 28 Pakistan International Airlines cancels 537 flights in 11 days
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) seems to be on the brink of closure. The airline has cancelled over 500 flights in the past 11 days due to severe fuel shortage. Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has reduced its fuel supply due to unpaid debts which led to a cancellation of 537 flights since October 13. Around 49 domestic and international flights were canceled from various cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Multan, Peshawar, and others.

[Canada]OCT 28 Environmental Hazard as Cargo Ship Loses Containers in Canadian Far North
The Canadian Coast Guard and NEAS, operators of Nunavik Eastern Arctic Shipping, scramble to locate the cargo which is reported to be floating in the harbor. The vessel appears to be NEAS's Sivumut, an 8,000 dwt cargo ship. It can transport up to 655 containers or loose cargo.

[Brazil]OCT 28 GM workers in Brazil strike against mass layoffs
On Saturday, GM announced the summary firing of 1,200 workers in Brazil at three plants in the state of Sao Paulo. The announcement was met with explosive opposition from the company and the unions. Union bureaucrats published a joint letter pointing out the obvious contradiction between the auto giant's financial prosperity and the massive job cuts. In their joint letter, right after the union bureaucrats lament that 'GM has failed to comply with layoff agreements signed with the unions,' the union lamented that the automaker 'has failed'

Strike shuts down 13 locks between Lake Erie and Montreal, bottling up ships. St.Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes are part of system of locks, canals, rivers and lakes. Strike was in its third day Tuesday when the Canadian government ordered both sides to return. U.S. officials are pushing Canadian government and St.Lawrence seaway corporation for a settlement.

[Syria]OCT 25 Israeli air strike targets Aleppo airport
An Israeli air attack targeted Aleppo International Airport on Wednesday, according to a report by Syrian state TV. "The Israeli enemy carried out an air attack from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Latakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport," a Syrian military source said, adding that the attack had damaged the airport's runway. The airport has been out of service since Oct. 22 due to an Israeli missile attack.

[Nigeria]OCT 25 Maritime Workers begin nationwide strike Oct. 30
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, MWUN, Wednesday, said members would resume the suspended strike in the shipping sector of the nation’s economy from October 30. The President-General, Mr Adewale Adeyanju, in a statement through the Union’s Head of Media, Mr John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, said the directive became necessary due to the unwillingness of the shipping companies’ representative toward the negotiation of a minimum standard condition of service for the sector.
