Southeast Asia Summary

Registration dateAUG 12, 2025

28 July 2025 | InterContinental Hanoi Landmark72, Vietnam

Amidst the unpredictable complexities including geographical risks, trade regulations, operational efficiency in logistics has become a critical priority. The third edition of the Cello Square Conference Southeast Asia brought together over 170 logistics leaders, experts and business stakeholders for an afternoon of practical insights, data-driven strategies, and meaningful networking.

Welcome & Opening Remarks

The conference opened with an address from Mr. O Kooil, Executive Vice President of Samsung SDS Global, who reflected on the nature of supply chain risks and the history of the logistics industry. He noted that managing risk requires proactive management and rapid decision-making. Emphasizing the importance of data-driven risk mitigation, enabling faster and more informed responses, alongside automated risk sensing using Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in detecting disruptions in real time. Central to his message was a three-pillar framework for decision-making and logistics activities, designed to help businesses strengthen resilience while driving operational efficiency. His opening speech set a clear, purposeful tone for the rest of the conference.

"Data is very important today, and one way to capture data is through data-systems-based approaches, and generative AI can help with that." - Mr. O Kooil

Keynote 1: Case Studies Data-driven Logistics

The first keynote session started with Mr. Kim Dong Kyun, Vice President of Samsung SDS Southeast Asia. He delivered a session focused on improving performance in two critical logistics areas: warehouse operations and sea transportation.

Mr. Kim presented real-world case studies demonstrating how Samsung SDS | Cello Square solutions have been used to optimize warehouse flow, reduce product aging, and improve inventory turnover rates. Implementing tools like Network Optimization, 3D DC Design, SOP Defining, System Customization, Automation Equipment to Robotic Process Automation. On the sea transportation front, Mr. Kim discussed route optimization, container utilization, and cost-efficiency measures, supported by data analytics and AI-driven forecasting.

"In reality, logistics is all about managing your most important assets: inventory." - Mr. Kim Dong Kyun

Networking & Refreshments

In between the sessions, attendees enjoyed two networking breaks during the conference, an opportunity to recharge and relationship-building. We featured a variety of drinks, complement by a Paris-inspired set menu with delicate pastries, savory bites and sweet desserts. The relaxed atmosphere created an inviting atmosphere for meaningful conversations and collaboration.

Keynote 2: Tax and Customs Building Resilience through Trade and Customs Excellence

Our invited speaker Mr. Hung Khanh Le, Director of Global Trade and Customs Consulting at EY Vietnam, delivered a comprehensive session on the current and future state of trade and customs management in various countries, particularly Vietnam.

He began by addressing global trade disruption risks and realities, outlining how geographical tensions, supply chain bottlenecks, and shifting market demands are impacting cross-border flow. From there, he explored process optimization and technology enablement, demonstrating how automation and digital tools can streamline customs procedures and reduce clearance times.

"The process of building a good automation system in supply chain management follows the 3R Framework: Review, Repair, and Revive. We recommend companies focus on the processing time at each stage." - Mr. Hung Khanh Le

Keynote 3: Increased Visibility in Warehouse Flows Cuts Inventory Aging

The last keynote delivered by Mr. Yu Myung Jong, Managing Director of Samsung SDS Indonesia, presented solutions in building warehouse infrastructure to control inventory aging, underpinned by practical solutions such as appropriate warehouse capacity design, handling space improvements, and the deployment of suitable logistics equipment. As well as, sharing Samsung SDS's approach with site inventory operations in using Cello system, which includes Unloading, Inbound Inspection, Storage and Location Management to Optimized Loading.

"In order to improve the inventory aging process, we improved the infrastructure that can be effectively controlled." - Mr. Yu Myung Jong

Panel Discussion

Future of Logistics: 2025 and 2026 Trends

The conference final session brought together four industry experts for an insightful-packed panel moderated by Mr. Park Junghee, Head of Business Development at Samsung SDS Australia. Each speaker delivered a focused five-minute perspective before engaging in a broader discussion on how the logistics industry is changing.

Logistics success in 2025 to 2026 will hinge on combining data-driven decision-making with agile supply chain design. Companies that simplify through innovation, from Artificial Intelligence forecasting to emissions tracking will lead in efficiency and resilience. Preparing for disruption means aligning digital infrastructure, regulatory compliance, and operational flexibility into one cohesive strategy.

"What this comes down to is managing risk. So at least you are operating within certain parameters, and not going beyond. You avoid entering an environment where you are completely out of control in paying ocean freight. This is something we want to adopt and actively engage customers to do as well." - Mr. Matthew Thong

"Future-proofing logistics is about creating operations that are agile, resilient and informed. It means having flexible transport and fulfillment networks, backups for disruptions and the ability to reroute and reallocate stocks where its necessary, quickly." - Mr. Nay Htoo Aung

Lucky Draw & Closing

The afternoon concluded with a lively lucky draw, bringing an engaging and celebratory close to the conference. 10 winners received 1M worth of VinID vouchers, while 5 winners were given Samsung Galaxy Buds3 and the 1st prize winner won a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Cello Square Conference is more than just an annual gathering. It is an event for industry knowledge exchange and thought leadership, fostering deeper collaboration and inspiring innovation across Southeast Asia's supply chain landscape. Samsung SDS will continue to further improve with a commitment to making upcoming editions even more impactful, relevant and engaging.
